If you or a loved one has been hospitalized recently, chances are good that you felt you were being discharged before you had the strength to resume the daily activities you were accustomed to prior to your hospitalization.

It’s not uncommon for physicians to decide that their patients are not quite ready to go home following surgery or a major illness, but the level of care does not constitute a continued hospital stay. Some patients may need extra strengthening before they can function optimally at home. It is at this point that a short-term rehabilitation stay at Rome Health and Rehab will help to regain strength, well-being and the peace of mind many seniors need to safely return home.

Rome Health and Rehab (formerly known as Golden Living Center), is a new name for a familiar landmark. However, nothing has changed on the inside. Our team of caring professionals who have fostered the health and well-being of thousands of Northwest Georgians for nearly five decades is still here, ready to make patient’s goals our own and help them along the road to optimal health.

Led by senior administrator, Jennifer Haislip-Lynn, our leadership team at Rome Health and Rehab collectively has over 200 years of experience at this facility. The longevity of our staff is a key component in our multitude of successful years.

With both outpatient and inpatient therapy services available, Rome Health and Rehab provides post-acute care in specialties such as orthopedic/joint replacement, stroke, cardiac and pulmonary; a physician will recommend the best option for incoming patients.

With a complete interdisciplinary team approach, care will begin with a thorough initial assessment from nursing, therapy professionals, social services, dining and discharge planning. Our therapy department, comprised of physical, occupational and speech therapists, will work with patients to achieve individualized goals and facilitate in a plan to return home. Our patients will be asked to describe their “before” lifestyle and activities and to share and discuss personal goals for rehab. After this collaboration, they will find that our care team at Rome Health and Rehab tailors a path according to their desired results.

With an inpatient stay, residents will enjoy delicious bistro-style dining with an experienced dining team and menu that accommodates all types of dietary needs and food preferences. Director of dining services, Tammie Brock, understands the importance of food in one’s recovery. “Food is essential to life,” she says, “and we are the behind the scenes motivators. We know we must provide our patients with the energy and strength to rehab and to recover.”

Tammie and her team have fostered a motto that can be observed in our day-to-day operations: “Serving love one plate at a time.”

Additional care and amenities are available at Rome Health and Rehab including a podiatrist, audiologist, optometrist, dentist, pain management and wound care specialist. These are all available for comprehensive care and other amenities include an on-site pharmacy and transportation to your doctors’ appointments if needed. We know that looking great is an integral part of feeling great, so we also staff an on-site beautician.

Confidence in the quality of care at Rome Health and Rehab is supported by our CMS Five-Star Rating and the many awards we have received through the years:

A key concept in healthcare today is referred to as the continuum of care, which means that as patients move from home, to hospital, to rehab and back home again, the caregivers you meet along the way communicate thoroughly about your plan of care. When seniors go home from Rome Health and Rehab, they can rest assured that our caregivers will be in close contact with the home health providers who will assume care.

After all, from the first day of admission to Rome Health and Rehab, our team has been preparing you to get back home… the place you miss most. As Denise Champagne, director of care transitions for Rome Health and Rehab says, “We love our patients. Nothing brings greater joy than knowing we play a role in helping them return home to their prior lifestyle with their family and friends.”

Rome Health and Rehab is located at 1345 Redmond Circle, Rome, GA 30165. You can also contact their offices at 706-234-8281.

I worked in the criminal justice field for 12 years as a probation officer and decided that a change of pace was necessary. I came to work for V3 Magazine In 2013 and they offered me a chance to do something I've always loved and lower my blood pressure simultaneously. When I'm not telling stories, folks can usually find me fishing or trying out new recipes with my family.
