On Thursday, September 27, four outstanding Rome Middle School students had lunch at Coosa Country Club where they were honored by Rome Rotary as Terrific Students for the Month of September.

Heidi Aguilar, Gisselle Perez, Albin Mendez and Asma Odeh were nominated for this award by their teachers as they each displayed an immense amount of determination and effort regarding their studies at Rome Middle School.

After being treated to a special lunch, the students were called one-by-one, and received a plaque listing their accomplishments and a $25 gift card to Barnes and Noble.

During the presentation of awards, Mary Hardin-Thornton of the Rome Rotary Club read several facts about each student and their accomplishments.

Albin Mendez described his love of helping people, which is why he wants to work in the healthcare field in the future. Hardin-Thornton described Gisselle Perez as a great student who strives to be a veterinarian one day.

Asma Odeh was very excited to be attending the Rotary Club meeting. “This is such an honor,” she smiled.

Accompanying the students were RMS Assistant Principal, Dr. Christy Epps and RMS eighth-grade counselor, Ayanna Clarke-Daniel.

“This is a very big deal for our students,” said Dr. Epps. “We are so thankful to have the Rotary Club recognize these amazing students for their outstanding achievements.”
