Rome High School’s gymnasium was jam packed this past weekend with cheer enthusiasts as the Wolves hosted their First Annual Howlin’ Wolf Classic Cheerleading Competition.

Rome High did not perform at the Classic. Instead, all of their athletes could be found helping to run the competition. From being escorts to each individual team as they warmed-up, to running concessions, preparing each team’s music, manning the Judge’s Room and the Coach’s Hospitality Room and more, Rome High’s team did what they could to welcome their guests and make them feel at home.

Rome Middle School’s competition cheerleading team debuted their routine, showcasing an amazing set of full-team standing tucks.

Sixteen Northwest Georgia middle school and high school cheerleading teams attended the competition. This included:
-Gordon Lee Middle and High School
-Coosa Middle and High School
-Lake View Middle School
-Rockmart Middle School
-Pepperell Middle School
-Chattooga Middle and High School
-Red Bud Middle School
-Trion High School
-Bremen High School
-Cass High School
-Villa Rica High School
-Model High School
-North Cobb Christian Middle School

Rome High School’s Varsity Competition Cheerleading Coach, Jordan Burrier, was very pleased with the outcome of the competition.

“We put a lot of hard work and preparation into hosting this event, and it has gone off without a hitch,” said Burrier. “We had a lot of teams from around the area attend, which we were hoping would happen. It is always fun to bring people back to Rome. We are so excited and can’t thank everyone who participated in Rome’s First Howlin’ Cheer Classic enough!”

Rome High School’s Varsity Competition team will travel to Carrollton, Georgia next weekend (Saturday, October 13) to the University of West Georgia to compete in the Carrollton Classic. Go Wolves!
